Brave Kids (BK) has started with the idea of Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche that we should pay special attention to the development of children as they shape the future of our world. On this basis, children should be given the opportunity to share existing skills and allow them freedom of creation. But what would be the best way to make such a thought happen? The best way to do this is to bring together children from different countries and nationalities for the mutual transfer of education and culture.
To ensure the realization of his thoughts, in 1980, the Tibetan Lama, Doctor and Philanthropist Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche, together with Lea and Veit Wyler, founded the charity ROPKA International.
The ROPKA aims to improve the quality of life of the poorest nations in the world, regardless of their religion, nationality or cultural background.
The ROPKA has been conducting educational and cultural projects for more than 35 years, in many places such as Nepal, parts of China's Tibet, South Africa, Zimbabwe and also in Europe.
In 2009, Grzegorz Bral, Abraham Tekya and Leya Wyleralustas initiated the Brave Kids (BK) educational and cultural program. BK began its work with a gathering of three groups in Wroclaw. In addition to the hosts from Poland, children from Nepal and Uganda were invited to the two-week gathering. During their time together, various workshops took place in which the gathered children taught the children of other countries the songs, dances and other practices of their land (child-to-kids). The BK gathering culminated in a large gala performance jointly prepared with the children of the Wroclaw Youth Centre.
The Brave Kids project has since brought together children from many countries who have found themselves friends and relationships for life.
Throughout the years, the main organizer of BK has been Song of the Goat theatre in Wroclaw.
In 2018, 345 children from 21 countries participated in the project, and the project had expanded to five countries.
