What are we doing in the camps?

1. First, riding and interacting with animals

Our farm has 14 horses, including 7 horses and 7 minipons, at the moment 10 of them can be ridden, some of the animals are young for work, but they do. There are still rabbits, mini pigs, dogs, cat, chickens and goldfish on the farm. One of the traditions of children's camps is that at the beginning of each camp, children choose a pet for themselves to be cared for throughout the camp time. On the first day, the child is given the information needed to take care of the animal, told what eats, how often, taught, where and how food can be found, etc. and at the end of the camp, the child can describe what he learned, how he liked it and what kind of connection with the animal formed.

There are 1-2 horse riding classes on a daily basis, children are introduced to the knowledge related to horses, horse riding and rocket riding. One day of camp, we go on a hike where the children according to their skills and wishes, whether riding, riding in a horse-drawn carriage or cycling. At the end of the camp, the more skilled perform with cadrils and the less skilled show what you learned in the camp.

2. Second, acrobatics and circus

We do acrobatics, both on the ground and in the air, both paired and alone, plus jumps on the airtrack, trampoline and trampoline. From the areas of the circus we learn juggling with towels, balls, rings and bat, twisting of plates and buoys, tricks with hular ring, flowerstick and diabolo, and monocycling. By the end of the camp, a 1-2 mini-plan will be completed.

3. Third, art

Mainly drawing, porcelain painting and glass melting and glass painting. But we also learn to draw horses in nature, we have made an installation insect hotel, in collage a dream board, candles, bracelets, etc. We plan to do macramé and leatherwork. Always the children make themselves shirts with the logo of the Source farm and one souvenir.

In addition, the children learn 1-2 show dances and 1 folk dance in the weekly camp, make one creative movement plan or music track in the small group themselves, the best ones are presented to the parents.

The camp ends with a 1-1.5 hour performance plan and a circus worker for parents and eating a cookie cake made by children.

TAUSTAST

The story of making our children's camps begins in 2014, when the nice coaches of the Circus Studio Folie, based in Tallinn, came to share their skills with the children of the Varbola Children's Garden-Basic School. At the end of the same year, the circus studio received an invitation to participate in the international charitable project Brave Kids (BK), an international children's cultural and educational program and a bit like a camp. If BK is more interested, look here.

The making of the camps at the Source farm began in 2019. In 2019-25, 25 camps of different lengths and formats have been made, we have had in addition to summer camps, learning interest camps, camps to exit the coronavirus crisis and camps for the integration of Ukrainian youth. A little pictures of our activities can be found from the gallery.
